Nisbet Brower is proud to partner with John Henry Homes and SOSBE Construction on ABC's
Staff Writer - Nisbet Brower Press - Mar 10, 2006

Airs Sunday on ABC 8PM/7PM Central

Sometimes it takes just one person to make a dream come true and sometimes it takes hundreds and maybe even a thousand.   Nisbet Brower, a 135 year old Cincinnati company, less than two weeks ago said yes to John Henry Homes that they would be honored to participate as a supplier of products and installation for the construction of the new Hassall family home in conjunction with ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”  Thursday, March 9th, the Extreme Makeover Crew arrived on the doorsteps of the Hassall family home which is the kickoff of the whirlwind of activities to begin that will include more than 1,000 workers and volunteers.  The Hassall family’s home is located in Berry, Kentucky just south of Falmouth. “We support several charitable projects annually,” said Mark Rippe.  “We were more than honored to participate and give back to the community that has given so much to us.”

Nisbet Brower will supply products from Trex® decking, Quick Rail®, Milliken Doors, Koetter Woodworking, Paslode® Tools.  Plus, Nisbet Brower will provide custom millwork for both the outside and the inside, which has been manufactured in Nisbet Brower’s corporate facility in Sharonville and pre-assembled and ready for placement.  In addition, Nisbet Brower will provide a crew of 30 installation team members, including 10 subcontractors, to install many of the products supplied in addition to the kitchen cabinetry. A number of Nisbet Brower employees have also volunteered to assist at the project site.   “We are excited to participate.  We are able to use our skills we use everyday to make it happen.  We don’t feel we are doing anything extraordinary, except for our employees giving back to the community to a deserving family,” said Chuck Harrell, Director of Manufacturing and Installation.

The Hassall family is a very special family.  Officer Brian Hassall was shot in the line of duty---but despite that, he eventually returned to the force and works the night shift because he suffers from migraines triggered by daylight.  The only place he can sleep is in their damp, dark basement.  Michelle Hassall, battling a blood disorder and now lymphoma cancer, cannot be in the basement for any length of time because her fragile immune system cannot handle any further sickness.

Because of Michelle’s 20-year old battle with a rare blood disorder, the Hassall’s were unable to have children of their own.  They adopted a daughter, Alex, now an 8 year old, and Sam, a special needs 3 year old boy, born in China with a cleft palate.  Unfortunately, due to the medical bills for Sam and Michelle and missed work because of treatment, the Hassall’s have maxed out their credit cards and taken a second mortgage on their home.  There is nothing left to make their house fit for their family (excerpt from John Henry Homes and SOSBE Construction press release, 3/9/06)

The episode, called “The Hassall Family” is scheduled to air during the Spring of 2006, featuring team leader Ty Pennington, as well as Paige Hemmis, Ed Sanders, Preston Sharp, and Daniel Kucan.
